Captivating Kaia defines herself by her faith. She is a firm believer in the idea that we are all serving something greater than ourselves, or that we should be striving to do so. She thinks the universe is a wonderful place full of mystery, and she doesn’t understand how people look at the universe and don’t feel somehow awed by its immense majesty and complexity. In other words, Kaia is the sort of girl who thinks that the world was created by something greater than us, and she is happy to discuss how she approaches the world and her own spirit with anyone who wants to talk about it.
“I look at the universe,” she says, “and I get so amazed. Think about it. Everything that exists, exists inside the universe. But what does the universe exist inside of? And how can we keep going, knowing that something is inside something else is… inside something else? It’s the kind of thing that you could trip out on. The world is so vast and yet there’s so much of it in so many dimensions. I think when you look at all that, and you see how intricate the universe is and the natural world around us, you have to believe that there’s some kind of higher power, some kind of creative force, that drew it all together. After all, if not, then what could possibly have done it… and how can all of existence be random when all of existence has to be inside something else?”
Laughing, Kaia admits that she knows all this sounds bizarre, but it’s the sort of thing that keeps her up late at night. “I’m a night owl,” she admits. “I like to stay up late. I like to party. I like to stay out all night and go down when the sun comes up. And then I love to pull all-nighters and enjoy the next day, enjoy the feeling of being so tired when you do finally drop into bed. It’s all part of enjoying life. It’s all part of the rich tapestry of this life. We get such a brief little flicker of a candle in comparison to the age of the universe. I think you need to take advantage of what little time you have. When it’s gone, it’s gone, and you’ll have nobody to blame but yourself.”
Kaia believes that when you are right with yourself, when you are comfortable with who you are, you can be kind to others. “I think all kindness comes from a place of security and confidence,” she says. “When you are confident in who you are, it is nothing to you to be kind to others. And let’s be honest. The world could use more kindness.”
